Welcome to The Extra Guest Charity

https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/theextraguest
We are a group of friends who have been inspired to create a difference in the lives of those who live in poverty.Through the practice of 'Ethical Dining', we support food aid and sustainable living projects around the world by focussing your donations where they can be most effective.
In 2009, Moyra Irving wrote a story in which a group of people come together to enjoy a sociable meal. During the course of the dinner, a small child holding an empty bowl appears and sits at the spare place setting. As the diners start to notice and greet the little stranger, the child smiles and slowly the bowl begins to fill with golden coins. Everyone realises that something quite special is happening.
It was this image that inspired us to develop the idea of The Extra Guest - a chance for all of us to recognise those in need and to offer the hand of true friendship. By donating a very small amount we can share our good fortune and make a very big difference.
By supporting this project, your meal leaves a lasting and positive legacy. This is how we can enjoy the experience of 'ethical dining'.
How The Extra Guest Works
Ethical Dining
Every time you dine at an 'Extra Guest' venue, you have the opportunity to donate £1 coins to The Extra Guest Projects. (See Current Projects Page). Information will be given with your menu on how to make your donation. Some venues have agreed to match your donations, thus making your contributions even more valuable.
Website Donations
In addition, you may wish to donate other amounts on this website by clicking the 'Donate' button above.
The Extra Guest at Home
If you love to cook, why not organise an Extra Guest dinner party? Simply prepare a meal and invite your friends round. Remember to leave an empty place setting for donations to The Extra Guest. Please donate the funds raised via the website.
Thank you for dining ethically.
